- Race Status Update
Aug 4, 2010 -
The race is on. But there are changes. No shirts, and a BBQ at the end. And the costs are down as a result. Check out Newsletter #1.
Volunteers: I could use some check point volunteers and someone to take on prizes.
Teen pricing in still in effect: The cost will be $55 for anyone under 18, that registers prior to July 31. And $65 after July 31.
Pre Race Briefing will be at my house in Porter Creek. Drive north on Elm St, past the Dead End sign. (From Centennial, turn down 14th, and then 1st left on Elm.) You will be required to leave your canoe and bikes. See the newsletter.
- News for teens
July 19, 2010 -
I've consulted my insurance, and racing gurus from down south, and I'm making it official: YAC Mini is open to teens, and I'm offering teen pricing to go with that.
Obviously I'll need sign off from parents/guardians, but I am opening the race up for anyone 14 and up. 14 year olds must race with an adult 18 or over. 15 - 17 you can race with other teens or with adults. For 13 year olds, sorry, you have to wait until next year.
Teen pricing in effect: The cost will be $80 for anyone under 18, that registers prior to July 31. And $90 after July 31. (Adult pricing is $87.50 and $100 respectively.) Note these prices are per person, but I am still requiring 2 person teams.
Spread the word to your teenage friends, especially those graduates from SASE, ACES, ES, and other great school programs. And parents, race with your son or daughter!
- News on the YAC mini - The August Rush
June 29, 2010 -
I have now scouted out most of the course for a 12 hour August Adventure Race. It is quite a fun and beautiful route, with lots of variety. As interesting as the full YAC, in 1/3 of the time.
The course will be unsupported (I get to move all the gear for you). Teams of 2. $200 per team.
There will be trekking, with some navigation and route finding, mountain biking, canoeing, and some mystery events. There should be an article in the June 30 Yukon News about the upcoming race.
